If you receive a call or visit that appears suspicious, always end the contact immediately and report it to local law enforcement. You may call Empire anytime at 800-206-2300 to check on your account status and verify whether the contact is legitimate. Your payment history is also avalailable online with MyAccount. Also, if you have family or friends who may be at risk of falling for one of these scams, be sure to discuss this important information with them.

Average Payment Plan

Hot summers and cold winters can cause significant swings in your energy bill and problems for your budget. With our Average Payment Plan (APP), you won't have to deal with surprises when your bill arrives. Here's how it works. APP calculates your expected annual service charges and divides it into equal payments. At the end of the contract year, the actual usage is reviewed and a customer's contract and installment amount are adjusted for the next 12 months. Participation in APP requires customers pay their pre-determined average amount every month – even if the status shown on their contract information is a credit. Customers who fail to make monthly installment payments are subject to have their APP contract terminated. Customers who wish to pay more than their monthly installment must contact Empire before doing so.

Average Payment Plan

When you select APP, you can choose an alternate compatible due date. To take advantage of APP, log in to MyAccount and complete the enrollment form.

To enroll in APP, account must be in good standing with no balance due.


When you choose Auto-Pay, your payment is automatically deducted from your bank account. You still receive your bill that will show, in advance, the exact amount and date that your bank account will be debited. Payment will be verified each month on your bank statement. If you wish to cancel Auto-Pay, just contact Empire District.
